Machinery analysis and safety verification
CSIA supports companies in the technical verification of machinery already installed, with the aim of assessing conformity, documentation, risks of use and the effectiveness of protective devices.
Useful support to identify critical issues, manage documentary obligations and define any corrective actions. Not just a formal requirement: a tool to truly understand the state of your machinery.
Safe machinery, clear documentation, risks under control
A machine that has not been properly assessed can pose an operational, documentary and organisational risk. CSIA helps the company understand what is missing, what needs updating and which corrective actions to consider.
CE-marked machinery and machinery predating the Directive
The reference framework depends on the year of manufacture and on whether or not the CE marking is present. Correctly identifying the applicable case is the first step in setting up a consistent analysis.
Recent machinery
For more recent machinery, the analysis concerns conformity with the essential health and safety requirements set out by the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and the applicable harmonised technical standards.
Machinery without CE marking
For machinery predating the Directive and lacking the CE marking, the verification refers to the safety requirements set out in Annex V of D.Lgs. 81/08.
The machine is analysed as a whole
The verification covers technical, documentary and operational aspects. Each element contributes to forming a complete picture of the state of the machine and of any critical issues to address.
State of the machine
Verification of the condition of the machine already installed and of the operational context in which it is used.
Available documentation
Review of the technical and administrative documents accompanying the machine: declarations, manuals, CE plate and file.
Risks of use
Assessment of the risks associated with the operational use of the machine, with attention to the actual ways it is used.
Protective devices
Analysis of the effectiveness of the installed guards in relation to the identified risks and the actual use of the machine.
Applicable requirements
Verification against the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Annex V of D.Lgs. 81/08 and the harmonised technical standards.
Corrective actions
Indication of the main works or upgrades to consider in order to improve the state of the machine.
Technical documents: what must be checked
Technical documentation is an essential part of the analysis. The presence, completeness and consistency of the documents make it possible to correctly understand the state of the machine and to identify any gaps to be managed.
When the documentation is not complete or is inconsistent with the installed machine, CSIA helps the company identify the aspects to examine further and define the actions needed to fill the gaps found.
Risks, guards and the real use of the machine
The assessment is not limited to the formal presence of the devices, but considers their effectiveness in relation to the actual use of the machine and the real operating conditions.
Analysis of use
Understanding of the operating practices by which the machine is actually used in the company, including the usual conditions of use.
Risk assessment
Identification of the risks associated with the operations and conditions of use, with reference to the applicable harmonised technical standards.
Verification of the guards
Assessment of the effectiveness of the installed protective devices in relation to the identified risks and the actual use of the machine.
CSIA supports the company in drafting the technical file for machines and assemblies of machines, verifying compliance with the EHSR — essential health and safety requirements — and the applicable harmonised technical standards.
The support covers both the gathering and organisation of the technical information and the verification of consistency between what is documented and the actual characteristics of the machine or assembly.
From technical analysis to the actions to take
A process structured in distinct phases, from gathering the initial information through to indicating the works needed to bring the machinery into compliance.
Information gathering
Analysis of the machine, the operational context and the available documentation before starting the verification.
Documentary verification
Review of declarations of conformity, user manuals, CE plate and technical file.
Technical assessment
Analysis of the risks, the applicable requirements and the effectiveness of the installed guards.
Highlighting of the critical issues
Identification of non-conformities, documentary gaps or aspects to examine further.
Indication of the corrective actions
Definition of the main works to consider in order to bring the machinery into compliance.
Technical support to decide with greater confidence
Entrusting machinery analysis to CSIA means having technical support in understanding the applicable requirements, assessing risks and managing documentation.
The aim is to help the company understand the real state of its machinery and plan the necessary actions in an orderly way, with greater clarity for the employer, the managers and the technical staff involved.
Knowing the state of your machinery is the first step to managing it better.
CSIA supports companies in machinery analysis, helping them verify documentation, safety requirements, risks and possible upgrades. A technical service designed to make the management of the machine fleet clearer and more controlled.
